Sinn Féin’s Housing spokesperson in Derry says legislation is needed to tackle the present social housing crisis in the city.
Councillor Tony Hassan says there are 70 houses coming on stream in Derry’s Buncrana Road shortly, with around 1000 applicants looking for them.
He says an examination of the figures shows that the number of new social houses currently being built in Derry and the amount that are planned for the next few years is not enough to meet the demand, and a government backed buikding programme is necessary…………
