A Donegal councillor says the HSE’s Pay and Numbers strategy is hampering the recruitment of Home Helps in Donegal.
Cllr Gary Doherty told a meeting of the Regional Health Forum he accepts that targets were met regarding the number of hours provided in Donegal, but asked why the targets were not adjusted to reflect the face that 373 people are still on the waiting list.
The HSE’s Regional Executive Officer Tony Canavan told the meeting that there are allowable limits under the Pay and Numbers strategy within which they must stay, and the HSE locally is just within those limits.
Cllr Doherty says there’s a real need in Donegal, and the failure to meet that need has consequences…………
