One in five Irish people believe women make up or exaggerate sexual assault claims.
Findings by Eurobarometer also reveal 13% of people believe a woman who is assaulted or raped while affected by alcohol or drugs is partially to blame.
Dr Marie Hainsworth, Manager of Donegal Domestic Violence Services isn’t surprised by the findings.
She says it’s a Europe-wide issue:
