Man given three-month suspended sentance after a row on a Ryanair flight

A Ryanair passenger who became involved in a row with another passenger in a flight was given a suspended three-months jail sentence yesterday following his arrest in Letterkenny.
Guitar teacher Gareth Forsyth who is unemployed admitted insulting behaviour and threatening a breach of the peace on a flight from Bristol to Dublin.
The 32-year-old appeared at Ballyshannon District Court which was told he was arrested on a warrant for failing to appear in an earlier Dublin court to answer the charge of his offence on the Ryanair flight on November 14, 2011.
The warrant was served when he was arrested on Thursday in Letterkenny.
Judge Kevin Kilrane was told Forsyth had been drinking before and during the Ryanair flight when he became involved in an argument with another passenger.
He was arrested when the plane landed in Dublin and later failed to answer bail for a court appearance in the city.
Forsyth, British-born but who was reared in Clonakilty, Co. Cork, had a number of previous drink-related offences in Co. Cork.
The judge was told he had come out of a 14-year-relationship. He accepted he had an alcohol issue which had to be dealt with.
He was moving to live in Ballyshannon to be near a brother who worked in Bundoran.
Judge Kilrane told him if he re-offended he would be sent to jail for a long time.
A charge against Forsyth of being drunk and a danger to himself at Pearse Road, Letterkenny, on Thursday – which he admitted –  was taken into consideration in his suspended sentence.
