Israel has blamed a senior Lebanese intelligence officer for obstructing the investigation into the murder of Irish peacekeeper Seán Rooney.
The Donegal native was shot dead while on a UNIFIL peacekeeping mission in 2022.
The chief suspect, Mohammed Ayyad, was sentenced to death in absentia by a military court last month.
This morning, the Irish Times reported that IDF spokesperson Col Adraee claims a senior Lebanese army officer “collaborated with Hizbullah to cover up” the attack and intervened in the subsequent investigation.
A spokesman for UNIFIL said it has no knowledge of the claims.
