Budget 2026 to be unveiled on October 7th with a total €9.4 billion package

The Minister for Public Expenditure has confirmed Budget 2026 will be unveiled on Tuesday, 7th October, with a total package of €9.4 billion euro.

It includes €7.9 billion in additional public spending and €1.5 billion in tax cuts, with a shift away from temporary cost-of-living supports.

The Government says the budget will focus on essential services and key investments, while taking a more cautious approach than in previous years.

Minister Jack Chambers says the spending is needed, despite warnings from the Central Bank about sustainability.
