UK officially recognises State of Palestine

The UK has officially recognised the State of Palestine in a major shift in foreign policy announced by Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

He said the move is aimed at reviving hope for peace and supporting a two-state solution between Israelis and Palestinians.

It comes as the humanitarian crisis in Gaza worsens, and ahead of this week’s UN General Assembly, which is being attended by the Taoiseach and Tanaiste.
