1,529 families in Donegal have received the Newborn Baby Grant in its first year.
The grant is a one-off payment of €280 from the Department of Social Protection to support the needs of a newborn baby or newly adopted child.
This has been paid in respect to 1,551 children county-wide.
In total, since its launch, the Newborn Baby Grant has been paid in respect of 49,841 children at a cost of approximately €14 million.
