Tuesday, 31 March 2026: Uisce Éireann is pleased to confirm that essential nighttime water main replacement works on Main Street, Letterkenny have been successfully completed.
The works were carried out overnight to minimise disruption in the town. This network upgrade was delivered in advance of Donegal County Council’s planned town centre regeneration project, ensuring vital underground infrastructure is in place before surface level improvements begin and helping to avoid future disruption.
Patricia Lowry, Leakage Reduction Programme Manager with Uisce Éireann, said: “We were happy to facilitate these overnight works in advance of Donegal County Council commencing their regeneration project. Carrying out the upgrades now means the water network is ready for what’s ahead while keeping disruption to a minimum. I’d like to sincerely thank local businesses, residents, and motorists for their patience and support while the works were underway.”
The works were carried out by Farrans Construction on behalf of Uisce Éireann, and the cooperation of the local community was greatly appreciated in ensuring the project was completed safely and successfully.
