Detectives are appealing for information and witnesses following reports of a burglary and vehicle theft in the Bellaghy area of Derry.
A report was received at approximately 2am this morning of a car being driven dangerously in the Mullaghboy Road area, crashing into a field and making off at speed.
Follow-up enquiries determined that the vehicle had been stolen from outside a property in the same area after access was gained to a house and the car keys were taken.
The damaged vehicle was later found abandoned near the junction of the Old Tyanee Road and Glenone Road at approximately 2.40 am, with no one present.
Police are appealing to anyone who was in these areas shortly before 2am this morning and noticed anything suspicious to make contact with them via 101.
