In Donegal, there are over 26,800 pension recipients, according to figures released by the Department of social protection.
Of the 26,871 people receiving a pension benefit, the majority receive the Contributory State Pension, at 15,605.
Meanwhile, 7,425 people receive the Non-Contributory State Pension.
A further 3,819 receive the Bereaved Partner’s Contributory Pension, formerly known as the Widow’s Pension.
Only 22 people receive the Bereaved Partner’s Pension Death Benefit, which applies where the deceased passed away as a result of a work-related injury.
Only one Bereaved Partner’s Pension can be claimed at a time.
