Housing Agency conducting review into Older Persons Housing Financial Contribution scheme

Older people who have applied to move into a smaller home could be waiting a while following the Government’s decision to shelve a downsizing scheme.

The Housing Agency is conducting a review into the Older Persons Housing Financial Contribution scheme, which allowed retirees to sell their house to the council if it’s too big.

The goal for the scheme was to free up larger homes while helping older people to move to smaller, more accessible accommodation.

Age Action’s Camille Loftus says it’s unclear whether the scheme is being permanently shelved:
