Uisce Eireann is to begin work next week on a project which will see close to 1.4km of new water mains installed along the L1144 Lisnennan Road in Letterkenny.
The utility says once complete, the upgrade will strengthen the local water network and help ensure Letterkenny has the water infrastructure needed to support future homes, businesses and community development for years to come.
Uisce Eireann says the work is being delivered as part of its Accelerated Growth Programme, designed to provide the additional water and wastewater capacity needed to support housing and sustainable development in communities across Ireland.
Programme Manager Patricia Lowry says this investment will strengthen the water network in Letterkenny and help ensure there is sufficient capacity to support future housing and development in the area. By delivering this infrastructure now, she says the utility is helping to prepare Letterkenny for future growth while continuing to provide reliable water services for existing homes and businesses.
Works are expected to be completed early next year, with Uisce Eireann saying that while there will be temporary traffic lights will be in place along the route. Local and emergency access will be maintained at all times, and work areas will be kept as short as possible to help minimise disruption.
