A PSO flight between Derry and Dublin will not begin in October as previously outlined by the Transport Minister in the Dáil.
In April, Minister Dara O’Brien told the Dáil that the Government was fully committed to re-establishing the route, following the halt to preparatory work on the A5 project.
However, the Department of Transport now says it anticipates being in a position to publish a Request for Tenders very shortly.
It says the aim is to award a contract this year, with services beginning as soon as operationally feasible for the successful operator.
The airlink has been long awaited by those living in Donegal, particularly in Inishowen who are in a close proximity to the airport.
