Derry man jailed on explosives charges

A 31 year old man from the Derry area has jailed on explosives charges at Derry Crown Court.
Anthony Thomas Friel was sentenced to 4 and a half years in jail and 4 and a half years on licence following the discovery of a number of viable devices in a flat in the Maureen Avenue area of the City on 21 May 2012.
Detectives from the PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch have welcomed the sentence, saying it is significant and should send a strong message to anyone involved in similar activity.
