PSNI criticised for stalling some HET probes to facilitate new Bloody Sunday investigation

There’s been widespread condemnation of a PSNI decision to put a number of Historical Enquires Team investigations on hold, so that the HET can carry out an investigation into the actions of British soldiers who caused the deaths and injuries on Bloody Sunday.
The Bloody Sunday Trust says when Chief Constable Matt Baggot announced that an investigation into the events of Bloody Sunday, the families expected it would be properly resourced.
Now, the trust says it’s proposed to stall other investigations on which people are depending for the truth, and that is morally wrong.
That’s been echoed by the Pat Finucane Centre this evening.
Spokesperson Paul O’Connor says the PSNI was able to fund the security operation for the recent G8 summit, and should be able to resource this investigation…………
