A waitress charged with dangerous driving causing the death of 48 year old Alan McSherry in a hit-and-run collision is to stand trial before a judge and jury.
24 year old Lisa Roohan was sent forward for trial at Ballyshannon District Court today to Donegal Circuit Court on October 28.
Garda Kevin Garvin, Bundoran, told Judge Kevin Kilrane he served a book of evidence on Ms Roohan this morning within the court precincts.
The court was told that Ms Roohan had already surrendered her passport to gardai, and Judge Kilrane made it a condition of bail that her passport remain surrendered.
He granted Ms Roohan legal aid for senior and junior counsel and for a mechanical engineering report and evidence.
Ms Roohan, from Boyanagh on the Leitrim / Donegal border outside Ballyshannon is accused of dangerous driving causing death and other offences linked to the incident at Ardfarn near Mr McSherry’s home outside Bundoran on August 25 last year.
Mr McSherry’s body was found on a dark country road at 5.10 a.m. by his wife Jo.
The couple, from Birkenhead near Liverpool had been living in the Bundoran area for 13 years.
