Donegal County Council asked to look at housing estate’s speed limits

The transport minister’s asked Donegal County Council to reconsider  speed limits in housing estates.
Paschal Donohoe says he wants all councils across the country to take a second look at the limits, and whether they’re doing enough to ensure child safety.
He wants local authorities to consult with residents and examine whether more could be done to stop road accidents in housing areas.
The minister wants a nationwide speed limit of 30 kilometres an hour in housing estates – but only local authorities have the power to set speed limits.
