Connective Energy Holdings defend Sion Mills digester plan

A company behind a proposed waste management plant in Sion Mills have claimed that villagers fears surrounding the site are unfounded.
Donegal-based firm Connective Energy Holdings have submitted an application for an anaerobic digestor on the grounds of the former Herdman’s Mill site in the village.
Residents in Sion Mills claim that the proposed anaerobic digestor will bring no jobs, air pollution and unwanted traffic congestion to the village.
But the company says it will create airlocks and a negative pressue building which is specifically designed to the escape of odour, so they say air pollution will not be a problem.
In terms of traffic, they say that the Old Mill used to employ 1400 people, and there has always been lorries delivering to and from the site.
But they have also said they are sensitive to the issue of traffic, and they aim to keep the flow of traffic through the village to an absolute minimum.
Residents from Sion Mills are to hold a protest in the village against the proposal this Saturday.
