A man arrested in Dungloe yesterday has been charged with series of thefts amounting to over €100,000.
52-year-old Billy Mooney was arrested at St Peter’s Terrace, Dungloe and taken to Glenties Garda station where he was also charged with dishonest accountancy.
The 52 year old is accused of stealing sums of cash varying between €2,000 and €19,000 from Templecrone Co-op, Meenderrynasloe, Annagry, on dates between July 1, 2014, and June 6, 2016, amounting to €101,380.
Prosecuting Inspector Dennis Joyce said the DPP asked for the defendant to be sent forward for trial to the higher Circuit Court on 18 counts of theft and one of false accounting.
Mr Mooney was bailed on condition he report to Dungloe Garda station twice a week and not approach any witnesses.
The case has been adjourned to Dungloe District Court on April 10 for preparation of a book of evidence, its believed the case will then be transferred to the Circuit Court.
