The Minister for Transport has confirmed a one of grant of 500 thousand euro for improvement works for the approach road to the Harry Blaney Bridge on the Fanad side.
The money will be used for widening, strengthening and draining works as well as resurfacing of the 6 kilometre route.
Deputy Niall Blaney had been critical of councillors for not prioritising the route for funding from government; he says as a result he had to take matters into his own hands:
