The number signing on the Live Register in Donegal at the end of April was 20,996, a rise of 2,638 on the same period last year. That’s a year on year increase of 14%, although the number was down slightly on March.
In Letterkenny, there were 5,602 people signing on the live register at the end of April, a 21.5% rise on the same period last year.
Dungloe saw similar increases signing on at the end of April with 2,237 on the register, a rise of 21.4%.
Ballyshannon and Dunfanaghy also recorded increases, with a 16% increase of those signing in Ballyshannon compared to April 2009, while there was a 13.5% increase in Dunfanaghy.
There was a 10.6% increase in Buncrana, a rise of 9.5% in both Ballybofey and Donegal Town, while the smallest rise of 4.5% was recorded in KIllybegs.
