Senator Cecilia Keaveney has renewed her calls for a Youth Diversion Programme in Inishowen.
Such programmes are coordinated by gardai and targetted at youngsters who have a brush with the law, many of them for the first time.
Senator Keavney says like many other initiatives, money has not been forthcoming to extend the scheme.
However, she says special consideration should be given to the diversion model, which is aimed at engaging with in a positive way with young people to minimise their potential for into further trouble.
Senator Keavney says similar programmes in Raphoe and other areas worked well, and she believes they should be reinstated………
