Letterkenny woman has lucky escape in New Zealand earthquake

A Letterkenny mother has been describing her relief on hearing that her daughter, caught up in a major earthquake in New Zealand, was safe and well.
The 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck the country’s second largest city, Christchurch with officials saying it was ‘extremely lucky’ no one was killed.
Initial estimates have put the damage at up to €1.12bn as buildings collapsed, gas, water and sewage lines were ruptured, some bridges became impassable and electricity supplies were cut.
Letterkenny woman Margaret Dunne has been recalling the relief when she heard her daughter Mary was safe:
