‘At risk groups’ again urged to get flu jab

Health officials are advising pregnant women, people with long term health conditions and people aged over 65 to get the flu vaccine.
It comes after the number of cases of seasonal flu doubled in the last week to 5,400 – with Swine Flu accounting for the majority.
Last year the Swine Flu virus claimed 27 lives in Ireland – but no further deaths have been reported.
However 26 people are currently being treated for the flu in intensive care units at hospitals around the country.
The surge in Flu cases has been blamed for delays being experienced at Letterkenny General’s emergency department.
