The public has been urged not purchase home heating oil on the black market.
There have been numerous reports, over Christmas and the New Year, of homes across the north west being targetted by oil thieves.
Derry Councillor Eric McGinley has pointed out that the theft of oil is not a victimless crime and those behind it wouldn’t be doing it unless people were prepared to purchase it:
