140 people apply for 50 summer jobs at Lough Derg

The pilgrimage centre at Lough Derg has attracted a record number of applications for summer work.
140 people are looking for a job at the island site of St Patrick’s Purgatory in Donegal – but there are just 50 positions available.
Lough Derg is known for its austere conditions – pilgrims have one daily meal of dry toast and black tea or coffee, unless they’re on a 72 hour fast.
They must also go barefoot, and give up using their mobiles, laptops and MP3 players.
