There were 21,711 people signing on in Donegal at the end of March, down slightly on February, but up 3% on the same period last year. That’s an extra 637 people on the Live Register in the county.
Increases were recorded in most local offices in the county, with Dungloe the only office to rec ord a year on year reduction in the numbers signing on.
The highest increase was recorded in Killybegs, with 1,355 signing on at the end of March, up 10% on last year, while there were 6,042 signing on in Letterkenny, up 7% on March 2010.
There were 1,573 signing on in Buncrana, up 5%, and 1,625 in Dubfanaghy a rise of 3%.
Ballybofey had 2,630 signing on, up 1%.
Buncrana had 4,918 on the register and Donegal Town had 1,408, both unchanged over the 12 month period. Meanwhile, there were 2,159 people signing in Dungloe, down 2% on March 2010.
