Minister to meet Aranmore Fishermen over storm damage

The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food says he wants to meet Aranmore Fishermen affected by the storms earlier this week.
150 thousand euro of Lobster and Crab fishing gear was destroyed in the storm, fishermen says this should be the catalyst for a return of what they see as their fishing rights.
Since 2006 new regulations mean that fishermen have effectively been banned from fishing 48 species with the majority now fishing lobster and crab.
They say they are prepared to begin fishing illegally to make a living, even if that means going to jail.
When the issue was raised in the Dail this afternoon, The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Simon Coveney  gave this response:
