Letterkenny General Hospital is facing a budget deficit this year once again, with General Manager Sean Murphy saying it seems that the hospital is being punished for being efficient.
Traditionally. Letterkenny General has been one of the best performing hospitals in the country in terms of case mix, but now, as funding is cut, there are very few opportunities to make up budget shortfalls.
Sean Murphy says the HSE is calling for greater efficiencies, but there’s very little fat to be trimmed, and that’s a major problem at the moment:
