New search for missing Arlene Arkinson to start next month

A new search for missing Castlederg teenager Arlene Arkinson will begin in September.
The 15 year-old disappeared in 1994 – she was last seen after attending a disco in Bundoran with friends.
In November of last year, the PSNI  told a preliminary hearing at the coroner’s court that its investigation into the disappearance of teenager Arlene Arkinson is ongoing.
Her body has never been found, but she is believed to have been murdered. Robert Howard was acquitted at trial of her murder in 2005.
Her family said they were pleased to hear that the PSNI planned to carry out searches for Arlene’s body early this year – that search was postponed due to bad weather and is set to begin next month.
Speaking to the Derry Journal Arlene’s sister Kathleen said all the family wanted to do was bring Arlene Home.
She said she has been assured by police that the search will not be just for one day or two and will be given full details of the search when she meets with officers heading up the investigation tomorrow.
