Derry Coleraine rail line improvements to begin next year

The North’s Transport Minister has indicated he has found £22 million to allow work begin next year on the Derry to Coleraine railway line. Work on the railway line is expected to begin in July of next year, to be ready by April 2013, just in time for the major events being held in the city to coincide with its term as UK Capital of Culture.
Foyle MLA Raymond McCartney says while it’s regrettable that the work will involve a nine month closure of the line between Derry and Coleraine, this sends out a message that the Northwest is open for business…..
