Hundreds of people took to the streets of Donegal this afternoon for a series of protests against the provisions of Budget 2012.
The demonstrations, under the banner “Enough is Enough”, took place in Castlefin, Convoy, Raphoe, Ramelton, Rossnakil, Buncrana and Letterkenny.
The organisers say it’s vital that the message gets through to government that people cannot take any more, and believe the austerity model being pursued is not the right one.
Former election candidate and VRT campaigner Ryan Stewart travelled to a number of the protests with haulier John Mc Laughlin. He told the Letterkenny protest that the next stage is bring trucks back onto the streets of Dublin.
Kieran Moynes is one of the organisers of the Letterkenny protest. He says momentum is building, and as well as the Dublin truck protest, he anticipates another major demonstration in Letterkenny before the end of this month……….
