Factory collapse closes Foyle Road from lower deck of Craigavon bridge in Derry

There are major traffic delays around Foyle Road and John Street in Derry, where a cordon went up last night around the old Hamilton Shirt Factory, which is now in a dangerous state because of a collapsed wall. It’s feared the building is in imminent danger of collapse, and a demolition order has been issued.
Derry City Council has closed Foyle Road from the lower deck of the Craigavon Bridge to the John Street Roundabout to through traffic, diversions are in place around the lower deck of Craigavon Bridge and drivers are urged to comply with traffic signage.
Foyle MLA Pat Ramsey says the demolition order is being served on the owner of the building, and he’s urging the owner to comply as quickl;y as possible………
