Donegal County Council says it is not in a position to fund the maintenance of nonpublic roads.
In the past 15 years the Government’s LIS grants provided almost €20 million for the upgrade and maintenance of nonpublic roads – that funding is no longer available.
Councillor David Allcorn says these roads, like accommodation, foreshore and bog access roads are hugely important to rural Donegal.
