Two men shot in Derry as mothers protest against RAAD

Two men have been shot a number of times in the Bogside area of Derry.
The attack happened at around 11 o’clock last night.
The men are being treated in hospital – their injuries are not life-threatening.
If the patern of recent times is followed, last night’s shootings are most likely the work of vigilante group RAAD.
The group has issued threats against four men in Derry and also claimed responsibility for the murder of Andrew Allen in Buncrana last month.
The shooting last night came as a protest was held by a group of mothers in Derry.
It was called after claims that a number of women were visited at there homes this week by representatives of RAAD and told that their sons would be shot and maimed in punishment attacks.
The women claimed that if they did not agree with their sons being shot, then the men would be executed.
Andrew Allen’s mother was amongst those who gathered for the protest at Creggan last night.
