The Mayor of Buncrana says clarity is needed on when the Lough Swilly ferry linking Buncrana and Rathmullan will be back on the water.
This week’s meeting of Buncrana Town Council heard there are funding issues which have not yet been resolved.
The issue of funding for ferries was at the heart of contentious scenes during a county council meeting last month, and is due to be discussed again in a fortnight’s time.
Mayor Cllr Nicholas Crossan says he thought agreement had been reached, but there is cloak and dagger politics going on, and he can’t get to the bottom of it.
He welcomed the fact that the Foyle Ferry was relaunched yesterday, and wants the Swilly ferry back on the water within weeks.
