Deputy Pringle – People will stand firm against household charge

There are just eleven days left to pay the controversial household charge.
The 100 euro levy has so far only been paid by around 250-thousand households ahead of the March 31st deadline.
At the weekend, Fianna Fail called for an extension to the deadline, however Environment Minister Phil Hogan has said there won’t be any change to the date.
An estimated 1.6 million homes are liable to pay the charge.
Hilary Quinlan from the Association of County and City Councils says he expects an increase in payments over the coming days…………..


Meanwhile, the Government’s being accused of being disconnected from the public when it comes to the household charge.
Donegal South West Deputy Thomas Pringle insists those who genuinely oppose the charge will stand firm in refusing to pay it…………
