Foyle MP Mark Durkan says it’s time to refocus the campaign for a new North West Enterprise Zone incorporating parts of Derry, Donegal and Tyrone.
At the weekend, Northern Secretary Owen Paterson said such zones are a devolved responsibility in Northern Ireland, but there’s been much more rapid progress in England, Scotland and Wales.
Mark Durkan says this reinforces his long held belief that rather than focussing on corporation tax and competing with the Republic, the Northern administration should be pushing to establish a proper North West Enterprise Zone, with Derry at its centre.
He says much preparatory work has been done, now it’s time for action…….
