Donegal road safety group PARC has hit out at the low level of enforcement on learner driver laws.
Operation Learner Driver was a day of action by gardai carried out on the 19th April this year.
In this area – of 137 stopped 61 were unaccompanied while 51 had no Lplates. 84 were issued with a caution while proceedings were commenced against just one driver.
PARC spokesperson Susan Gray says the law needs to be enforced, she added that when a fine is issued for Learner Driver offences, it is well below the maximum sanction allowed:
