Half a million announced for N56 road works

Almost half a million euro has been allocated for pavement improvement works on the N56 near Gweedore.
The money, which is additional to the grants announced earlier this year, follows a Swedish led road research project.
Transport Minister Leo Varadkar has confirmed the additional allocation of E450,000 by the N.R.A. will facilitate 2km of the N56 in West Donegal.
This is part of a pilot project for pavement improvement identified by research project ROADEX.
The “Implementing Accessibility” project is the fourth collaborative venture by the ROADEX partners, led by the Northern Region of The Swedish Road Administration.
The project partners are Ireland, Scotland, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Finland and Greenland, and the project is funded by the EU’s Northern Periphery Programme.
