21 year old Dublin man charged with the manslaughter of Eugene Moloney

A 21-year-old trainee mechanic has appeared in court charged with the manslaughter of Donegal born journalist Eugene Moloney in Dublin city centre last weekend.
Gary Burch of Kennington Close, Templeogue has been remanded in custody until next Monday.
55-year-old Eugene Moloney died after he was punched in the head while walking home on Camden Street in or around 4am on Sunday morning.
Gardai launched a murder investigation and arrested two men in South Dublin for questioning.
One man was released last night, the other – Gary Burch – appeared in court this afternoon, charged with the journalist’s manslaughter.
Inspector Sean McAvinchey of Kevin Street Garda Station told the court that the 21-year-old made no reply when the charge was put to him.
He successfully applied to Judge Victor Blake for a remand in custody until next Monday.
Gary Birch remained silent during the brief hearing  he was represented by junior counsel in court: there were no applications for bail or legal aid.
