There were 22,084 people on the Live Register in Donegal at the end of June, down 2.5% on June last year, but up 4.8% on the previous month.
There were year on year falls in the numbers signing on in six of the county’s eight offices, but slight increases in Ballyshannon and Dunfanaghy.
June traditionally sees an increase in the numbers on the live register, with people leaving school, college and other courses.
There were 1,600 people signing on in Ballyshannon at the end of last month and 1,671 on the register in Dunfanaghy, both marginally up on June 2011.
The biggest year on year decreases were recorded in Killybegs with 1,339 signing on last month, down 7.5%, and Inishowen with 4,559 signing on, down 7% on the previous 12 months.

There were 1,330 signing on in Donegal Town, down 5.4%.
Marginal falls of less than 1% were recorded in Letterkenny with 6,397 on the register, Ballybofey with 2,829, and Dungloe with a total of 2,359.
