Donegal County Council is reminding anyone who owns a property other than their principal private residence, that the 2013 Non Principal Private Residence charge must be paid by the end of next month.
The council says properties can me registered and payment can be made online, by post or through any local council office.
In a statement, the council says anyone who owns a holiday home, a second home or a buy-to-let property is liable to pay the €200 charge by the 30th of June. This is in addition to the property tax.
The 2013 charge is based upon the ownership and status of the property on the 31st March 2013. Those who no longer own a property that they previously registered in the system may record that online at www.nppr.ie.
If the sale closed on or before the 31st of March, then the previous owner has no liability for the charge this year. If the sale closed after that that, however, then he or she is liable for the charge, and late payment fees will continue to accumulate on any unpaid money.
