Council removes 2 tonnes of litter from Donegal’s beaches

It has emerged that Donegal County Council this week had to remove two tonnes of litter from Donegal’s beaches.
The local authority is now appealing for the public to act responsibly when visiting Donegal’s beaches during this spell of good weather.
The council says that over the recent hot spell it has increased the cleaning service provided at beaches. Clean-ups have taken place on a daily basis and at weekends through a combination of the Council’s own resources and in many cases with the support of the local community.
With the hot weather set to continue the Council is calling on everyone visiting the county’s beaches to play their part, if everyone visiting the beach took their own waste home we would not have the situation whereby 2 tonnes of litter was collected on one beach earlier this week.
The message is simple, we must all play our part and take responsibility to keep our beautiful beaches fantastic places for everyone to enjoy.
