Parts of Letterkenny housing estate without water as Electric Ireland cuts power

Some residents of the Foxhills housing estate in Letterkenny are without water this morning following a decision by electric Ireland to cut power to a pumping station due to an unpaid bill.
The company has been issuing warning letters for almost two years but the bill has remained unpaid by either residents or the developer of the estate who is in administration.
A number of other housing estates in Letterkenny are now under threat of having their power cut off.
Councillor Gerry McMonagle has called on the council to make water tanks available to the effected residents – he says a proper solution to the problem in the short term is not obvious:
