The Roads Minister in the North has confirmed that the A5 scheme is ‘delayed’ and has not been abandoned.
And Minister Danny Kennedy has said that the assessment dealing with EU Habitats Directive is on-going.
In April this year a High Court order quashed the decision to go ahead with the A5, and it could be as late as 2015 before work on the project begins again.
West Tyrone MLA, Declan McAleer, who questioned Danny Kennedy this week, says the main questions now are around the timescale of the project, and he plans to probe the Minister further on this:
