Dublin residents to face water restrictions

Residents in Dublin City and County are being told to conserve their water ahead of restrictions which come into force tonight.
They will run from 8pm until 7am every night until next Monday and will affect all four local authorities across Dublin.
Dublin City Council says the quality and safety of drinking water will not be affected.
But Dublin City Engineer Michael Philips says the restrictions have been caused by a problem at a treatment plant.
“We have a problem with the water in that our treatment plant has a difficulty in treating it – and until that problem resolves itself these restrictions will remain in place” he said.
“The difficulty is that we wither we have to be able to treat the water or the characteristics of the water – that’s the water coming into us – will change, go back to normal; and then we will be able to make a decision” he added
