O’Domhnaill blames recruitment embargo for 900% rise in orthodontic waiting lists

The Health Minister is being told that the recruitment moratorium in the health service must be relaxed to allow for people on maternity leave or long term sick leave to be replaced.
The call has come from Donegal Senator Brian Ó Domhnaill, who says waiting lists for orthodontic treatment in Co Donegal have soared by over 900% over the past two years.
He’s been told that the number of Donegal patients waiting for orthodontic treatment has jumped from 458 patients in July 2011 to 4,127 at the end of last month, with a further 663 patients waiting for an initial assessment.
He says the recruitment moratorium is contributing to this rise……….
