Twin Towns to host Fight Night for the Console Charity

Boxing GlovesThe twin towns of Ballybofey and Stranolar are hosting a boxing club fight night to help raise funds for Console, the National Suicide Charity.
The Fight Night at Jackons Hotel, Ballybofey takes place on Sunday, December 15th, doors open at 7pm and boxing begins at 8pm.
“Console hopes to open a full time centre in Donegal in 2014 and this fundraising effort by the boxing club and the Console committee in Ballybofey and Stranolar is essential for this to happen,” said Console’s CEO and founder Paul Kelly.
“Community efforts like the Fight Night play a vital part in helping us in Console to provide much needed counselling and other services.”
“Not only are the twin town Console committee tremendous fund raisers, earlier this year raised €7,600 for the planned Donegal centre, they are also doing great work helping to raise awareness among people in distress that there is hope and help available.”
Jenny Regan of the twin town’s committee said tickets for Sunday’s event are €10 for adults and €5 for under 16’s the contributions towards raffle prizes would be greatly appreciated.
The national suicide prevention charity Console is currently recruiting a suicide liaison officer for the Donegal region
“We expect to have that role filled in the near future but it is important to stress that help is always just a phone call away on our 24 hour helpline 1800 201 890,” said CEO Paul Kelly.
Console offers counselling services and 24-hour helpline support to people in crisis and those bereaved by suicide.
The charity currently operates full-time centres in Dublin, Cork, Wexford, Limerick, Galway, Mayo and Kildare.
Counselling is available for any individual, couples, families or children who have been affected by suicide.
